About
香毬
香毬は人々が自然と共に暮らす秋田で「本荘ごてんまり」の作り手によって創られています。
芯は短い夏に、せいいっぱい太陽を浴び、豊かに実った稲のもみがら。
そこに一針一針、願いや祝福の想いを紡いでいきます。
自然の恵みに人の思いを重ね、結婚や出産のお祝いとして愛され、手渡され、受け継がれて来ました。
Coumari
Traditional wishing balls are made by the people of Coumari Akita prefecture, where they live in harmony with nature.
A core of rice husks is wrapped about with coloured thread
Every stitch comes with a wish courtesy of the long winter days spent indoors.

白檀を基調とし、凛とした澄んだ中にも心を穏やかな凪へと誘う香りです。
日本の長い歴史の中で生まれ、受け継がれて来た紋様には時代を超えた、 人々の根源的な願いが託されています。
寒い冬を越え、春の歓びと共に花開く桜には「はじまり」を。 すくすくと育ち多くの葉を茂らせる麻には「健やかな成長」を。
たくさんの花弁を豊かにほころばせる菊には「やがて訪れる幸福」を。 動き、巻き込み、交わり続けるうずまきには「生きる強さ」を。
香毬は、日々の暮らしを穏やかな祝福で彩ります。
Part of the long tapestry of Japan’s history, the weaving of timeless wishes into patterns that remind us Winter is passing, giving way to cherry blossoms, those portents of Spring that shout ‘New Life’. The hemp grows quickly, putting on leaves, followed by Chrysanthemums with their multiplicity of petals symbolise a 'Happy and Joyful Life'.
